People hoping for a free pass to Rainbow's End or a supermarket voucher are being targeted by scammers.

Auckland theme park Rainbow's End has issued a warning that there is a scam going around Facebook, offering tickets in return for filling out a survey.

This is not from us and is a scam to get passwords and other personal information. If you or someone you know has taken part please make sure you secure your accounts and report this to Facebook," a park representative posted.

Another link being distributed via Facebook asks people to fill out a survey in return for an $80 New World coupon."Foodstuffs and its brands are not associated with this scam or similar scams which we have seen previously on Facebook. We advise consumers not to open or share it, or give personal details to any sources that they don't trust or can't verify."

Another offers a voucher from Countdown "to mark its 25th anniversary".

Sean Lyons, of Netsafe, said people were still falling for the scams.

"If they weren't, no one would invest the time and effort into them. In the cold light of day, any one of us could spot any one of the thousands of scams. The very obvious ones, we're getting better at spotting. But the scams themselves are becoming more sophisticated and add into that, if someone is already having a bad day it's the perfect storm for people falling for it."

He said people who have never fallen for a scam assumed those who did were stupid. "Once you have, you feel very differently."

He said Facebook was not more susceptible to scams than other platforms, but the huge number of people who used it made it a good target for scammers. These are just two of a number of scams circulating on the social networking site.

"If I was going to run a scam and I was trying to reach as many people as I could, that I didn't know, I would use Facebook. You would go to the place where the most people congregated."
